Guesthouse LuLuLu

If you're looking for a place where you can truly connect—with people, culture, and purpose—LuLuLu might be the perfect fit.
Located in the heart of Kochi, Japan, our guesthouse blends local hospitality with global exchange. We welcome travelers from around the world and aim to create a cozy, inclusive, and community-oriented atmosphere.

As a volunteer, you'll be part of our small team and help with tasks such as cleaning, preparing meals, and interacting with guests.
In return, you’ll get to experience life like a local, enjoy shared meals (including our famous curry nights!), and take part in language exchanges and cultural experiences.

We are a small and friendly team of locals and long-time travelers who have found a home here in Kochi. We value openness, communication, and mutual respect. Volunteers are treated as part of the team—and often as part of the family.
Whether you're helping with daily tasks or chatting over dinner, your presence is appreciated and your ideas are welcome. We're here to support you and hope to make your stay both meaningful and fun.

My time at the Guest house exceeded all my expectations. It was recommended to me by a friend Lorea (her review is below) :) The hosts family are wonderful, kind, energetic people who bring that energy to their guesthouses. The hours and work load are more than reasonable for volunteer work, and we were given private rooms, breakfast, and lunch. As well as, karaoke nights, sightseeing, and local activities. I cannot fault my time in Kōchi and can wholeheartedly recommend the guest house! ;)

I spent one month at the guest house and had a wonderful experience! I was warmly welcomed by the whole team. The working hours were very reasonable, around 4 hours a day, and the workload was well balanced depending on how busy the guesthouse was. I had my own private room, with breakfast and dinner included. I also had the chance to meet so many travelers and enjoy the amazing atmosphere of the guesthouse. It really felt like home! Thank you so much for everything! I hope to come back to Kochi one day! ❤️

Lululu is the best! My time there was really amazing. The team is great and the owners are really actively involved in providing a proper guesthouse experience to the guests. The lounge is a good place to socialise, helped by the daily music sessions, breakfast (with homemade bread!), and dinners. The work is fair and it's nice to help a bit with cooking/serving. The hours are never more than as agreed. It was also very nice to have a private room with a desk, as well as a bike (Kochi city is mostly flat). It was my favorite volunteering experience, I can only strongly recommend it!

I highly recommend the house. Both the owners and the other team members are charming and make you feel welcome from the first moment. In addition, they offer breakfast, dinner and live music. All of this makes it easy to relate to both the members of the house and the guests. The work is very simple and they meet the agreed hours (even if there isn't much to do at times I ended earlier than usual). Also if you go in August you can see Yosakoi, a famous dance festival. Thank you very much to everyone, it has been a great month! :D

Taro, Kayano and Tomoyo welcomed me really well from day one, even though I was the only volunteer for most of my stay; they made me feel at home. It’s a lot of fun listening to their music every day, and also being able to connect with the guests and chat with them during dinner. They also make an effort to organize activities with the volunteers and to ensure everyone has a good time. The work is easy and often ends quickly.
