Home in Turkey

Izmir is a nice city with seashore and historical places. It’s the third biggest city in Turkey. We live in Zeytinalanı Urla. It is a little town close to the city. There are many bars, clubs, sightseeing, restaurants, shopping, bazaars, etc in Izmir. The weather is usually sunny. You can visit Urla, Seferihisar, Çeşme/Alaçatı, Kuşadası. Also Ephesus and Şirince are very close to Izmir. If you like history and villages I guess you will have fun. You can go to Bodrum easily for weekends. If you want to go to Kios (a nice Greek island) from Çeşme it takes 15 minutes by ship (and it is also cheap). If you want to go to Samos (Another Greek Island) you can get a ferry. (It is also cheap). One weekend you can go to Pamukkale, Cappadocia or Istanbul. We can help you with bookings. If you like sun and sea, sure you will love Izmir. Our house is 15 minutes to the seaside by walking. If you want to learn real local life, you are welcome. We can tell you a lot of things about Turkish families/culture/education & health system/history/social life, etc. All of us are talkative, so you can easily learn Turkish from us. We are enthusiastic about learning English, French and German. Because we love to eat, you can learn a lot of new Turkish food recipes. We like traveling. I can teach you my mother tongue (Turkish). I am interested in drama, Orff, stories, games, puppets, etc. I usually use all of them in our teaching, so I hope you can learn easily and with fun. I can teach you cooking jams, homemade pasta and tomato sauce, canning eggplant and beans, preparing olives. At the weekends you can travel to Ephesus, Çeşme, Alaçatı, Şirince, Urla, Seferihisar, Foça, Kuşadası, Bodrum, Pamukkale, Cappadocia, Kapadokya, Fethiye, Istanbul, Antalya, etc. You can go to Kios (Greece) from Çeşme port (Izmir) very easily and travel to other islands of Greece. We have already hosted volunteers and teachers before, and if you want we could get references from all of them. If you come to stay with us you will have a private room. We can also give you basic things like towels (you don’t have to add them in your luggage) and also you can use our washing machine. You will have Wi‑Fi. We usually cook fresh traditional foods at home; you can be with us at all meals and also you can cook. We don’t smoke. We only expect the basic things from you like cleaning and tidying up.

Hello

We are a family living in İzmir (Urla) in Turkey. We have two sons. The bigger one is 11 years old and the little one is only 8 years old. We are looking for a bigger sister for them who knows Russian, German or English or French and also talkative (chatterbox) :) Because we hope to improve their language skills. (They already speak these languages and just need to improve).

The bigger one goes to school between 7:30 am to 17:30 pm. The little one will be at home for this year. We can be flexible about the times and days and of course you can choose your off days. They like playing chess, drawing pictures, hiking, riding bikes, listening/telling stories (especially about dragons, dinosaurs and pirates.. )

Our kids play piano, guitar and drums. So we have a piano and guitars in the home and if you know how to play it can be very nice to study it with them.

I and my husband are both pharmacists. In summers we like travelling, camping, cooking, baking, eating :) (especially at the weekends we like to go to the beaches, mountains, plateaus.. ) Nowadays we like gardening also. In March we started to live in a holiday house with a garden. we try to grow our own vegetables there. the neighbourhood is so nice. it is 20 minutes away to beach and 15 minutes away to mountains by walking. so we are very lucky actually. so we are not sure about if we go back to our flat or not:)

We don't smoke. we only expect the basic things from you like cleaning and tidying up.

If you stay with us you will have a private bedroom with a balcony. You will have Wi‑Fi. We usually cook fresh traditional foods at home, you can be with us at all meals and also you can cook :) we are shopping from directly farms.

At the same time I can teach you my mother tongue (Turkish). I am interested in drama, Orff, stories, games, puppets...etc. I usually use all of them in our teaching, so I hope you can learn easily and with fun...

I can teach you cooking jams, homemade pasta and tomato sauce, canning eggplant and beans, preparing olives..

We have already hosted volunteers and teachers before and if you want we could get references from all of them. If you have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

NOTE: boys don`t go to schools in the summers. For July and August we need help especially in the mornings nearly 5 hours. But sure then you will be free about your own programme.

NOTE: usually we host two volunteers for having a multicultural life.

Before coming I was a bit scered about this trip, but in first days I understood that all is so safety! House was good and comfortable. Ayse was cooking nice the home dishes)) The house located close to Urla (it's like a fishing countryside), I was going there for swimming. Family was kind with me and helped me with everything. About work, boys were nice and focused, for sure sometimes they had small fights and were disagree with me, but they are kids and it's absolutely normal. Usually I had weekend in Wednesday and Thursday, other days we were playing games and study! So cute students ❤️☺️🌟✨

Ayse and her boys were great hosts! Ayse is really experienced so she can anticipate your every need; she is really kind and energetic and always willing to talk, help you plan your travel, etc. Ares and Atlas are two really active boys, always ready to learn something new and play games. I will miss them a lot. The hours are 5 hours a day and the job is to just play with the boys. You guys are such a lovely family, I know that I will be back!
