Hostel Serena

To live some time in the cultural laidback village Samaipata, in beautiful and authentic Bolivia will give you great experiences! In and around Samaipata there is much to do! From the musea to beautiful nature. It´s important you speak English since most of our guests are foreigners, and reasonable Spanish. Welcome!

We´re a Bolivian-Dutch family with two children (5 and 7 years), we opened our hostel end october 2016 in Samaipata. Located on 10 minutes by foot from the main square and market, with a magnificent view over the green mountains and the village Samaipata.

My experience wasn’t the best here. There are not structured schedules, there are just two volunteers which make breakfast and are supposed to take turns to be around the whole day unless one of them has a tour or something important to do. Tasks are pretty easy but the fact of not be free and be always available for whatever guests need is not nice. I felt like my time was not respected. I had to ask for some time off, the host probably didn’t mind if I didn’t ask. The work I I did was by far way beyond the 25 hours, been around and available is also working.

Jimena was'nt really a succes. It seemed difficult for her to deal with a daily schedule and she's not really used to a little bit of authority. To be grateful is a quality which not everybody has.
With two volunteers around it was not easy for her to do her daily tasks. Nevertheless we do wish her all the best.

Had a great experience at Serena hostel. The place and it’s view are magical, perfect for a bit of relaxation in between your travels whilst continuing to meet many other travelers on their way through.

Samaipata itself is also great, a surprising amount of things to do given its small size.
