La Vannière

My home was built in 1785 and is in the middle of the mediaeval part of this quaint little town. The village is surrounded by mountains, vineyards and a river, so it is in the countryside, but is also within walking distance of bars, restaurants and shops. There is easy access to reliable public transport.

The village is situated within the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park The park provides a habitat for more than 240 species of birds, in a stunningly diverse range of climate and scenery. It also provides a home for mouflons, successfully reintroduced from Corsica.

I am a friendly, warm, caring and intelligent person who also likes to have fun. You can expect to be treated with kindness and respect, but also as one of the family. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU CANNOT SPEAK ENGLISH, THIS POSITION IS NOT FOR YOU. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO, OR DO NOT LIKE ANIMALS, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY, AS I HAVE PETS. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE A HOT MEAL FOR LUNCH - THIS IS SOMETIMES PROVIDED IN THE EVENING, BUT NOT EVERY NIGHT. Thank you!

This experience is great for anyone who wants to find calmness and peace explore a very unique part of France and likes nature! The host is very helpful and understanding and always respects the hours and days agreed! You have your own private room and Michelle provides breakfast and snacks! The village is very small with only 3 restaurants and a mini market but you can use the bicycle provided or walk to explore the surroundings it’s very safe! There are also buses until 18.00! The work included painting the walls cleaning the house and making breakfast for the guests! Amazing experience!

I was very happy to end up with a host like Michelle for my first Worldpacker's experience. She is an experienced host and was very welcoming. Her home is lovely and the town itself felt very safe and had so much character. Michelle has high expectations for her volunteers but the work was always reasonable and she respected your hours and days off. You'll meet a lot of interesting and kind people when you work with Michelle and Lucie, Tybby, and Zoe will be your best of friends as well. I would definitely recommend working with Michelle if you'd like an authentic and cozy French experience!

I had a nice time at La Vannière. During my stay, I had the chance to practice English with Michele and French with guests and locals. The city is very beautiful, and exploring nearby towns by bike, provided by Michele, and visiting larger cities by bus enriched my experience. The wi-fi is great, allowing me to work online during my time off. Michele was kind and appreciated my hard work, which made my stay more enjoyable.

I had a wonderful time in Michele's home! The work was taking pictures and organizing the clothes she is reselling as well as helping with the housekeeping. My working hours were always respected, I could work at my own pace and I felt very comfortable at her place. Her two cats and Lucie, the dog, also contributed to that :) But more than anything, the environment around her town is just stunning. Although the town is very small, there's a bike to get around and plenty of other towns to visit or hikes to take. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore a beautiful national park

Michele is a lovely person and the area is nice. However I didn’t feel comfortable in the environment and chose to leave the experience early.
