NamaStay Himalayas, Kanatal

Aloha Volunteers!

Welcome to Uttarakhand, India.

We host a BnB (Eco-tourism project i.e. a farm-stay in Kanatal, Uttarakhand) which is an ideal home for travelers with musical, artistic, literary or spiritual pursuits, star-gazers, flora and fauna enthusiasts, nature lovers and souls seeking communion with self and existence.

Farm location: Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand
We also have a farm around 5 kms from our BnB. Our project is the restoration of eroded land which was once a thriving orchard in this area. The mountainous terraced land is now close to total extinction as only 0.01% survives. This is a last moment effort to keep this very rich and beautiful area on earth. As part of our restoration effort, we are also working on farming & water conservation keeping in view the permaculture guidelines. No skills are required, just a willingness to help!

Note: We are at altitude of 2590 meters. Climate can be extreme in winters. Plan accordingly.
- Flexibility and physical fitness are important skills for farming along with ability to live in wilderness.

We feel that everyone has something to share. Please feel free to write to us for project details.

Thank you!

We have a small team and a team member will be present at each project location. Aim: Connect with people who are passionate about creating meaningful projects by contributing to our various projects and services and their development. We will assist you to find an opportunity to volunteer as per your skills and temperament. Please feel free to write to us for details. Thank you!

An amazing experience! The hosts, guests, and villagers are all very friendly and interested in getting to know you. It is a very calm area away from the city and is cool in temperature. I painted a mandala mural and taught village kids. It is very different if you are used to the Western experience, but it is very rewarding!

I was working in Namastay for two weeks and it was feeling like home from the first days. Nidhi is a spectacular host and so are the other people that I could be living with. I truly recommend Namastay. You will find a very comfortable place to read, do yoga, trekking, bonfire and meet with the local community. Besides, there is a very beautiful landscape from the mountains. I really hope to come back one day. The only bad thing about Namastay was to say goodbye. Thank you Nidhi!
