Pedralta

This is a recently acquired agricultural and forestry field that must be prepared for cultivation according to organic farming standards.
Space will be shared between the village house and the mountain house.

My name is Teresa do Carmo, one of the pioneers in Spain in natural nutrition. I have owned several vegetarian restaurants in Barcelona, including Biocenter and Green&Burger.
I have recently moved to the countryside to start a new project related to agricultural topics. We bought a finca located in a town on the Costa Brava, in Catalonia, Sant Feliu de Guíxols. It is a coastal town; our house in town is a 5-minute walk from the beach and the mountain house is a 10-minute drive.
Volunteers will be able to stay in the house or in a roulotte depending on availability at the moment, as we sometimes receive several volunteers at the same time on certain occasions. They will join the family's life; Sofia is the person who coordinates the activities. It is important to us that they enjoy helping with food preparation. The whole family is vegetarian, and we like our principles to be respected, even though we are tolerant in this regard.
To get around you will need to go by car, motorcycle or bicycle. We have these vehicles, but the person should preferably know how to drive and have a license. Otherwise, mobility will be more limited. Walking to the town takes about 35 minutes, and many volunteers enjoy making that walk through the forest.

I stayed with a family for a month and it was a very good experience. From the beginning I felt comfortable and at home in that mountain house. Sofi, Teresa and Alice are very friendly, they are patient and I really enjoyed talking with them. The kids are very cute and Dinho (the other volunteer) is very kind and it was great to spend time with him. I also worked a bit in the restaurant and I learned a lot about vegetarian cooking (many very delicious dishes!). If you want to live the Spanish life, improve your Spanish, and meet very interesting people, I recommend this place!

My second volunteering experience, at Sofia and Teresa's house, was simply sensational. I truly felt part of the family. I lived incredible moments where I felt welcomed, protected, and I learned things I never imagined I would learn. It is near the sea and the town center. Moreover, the surroundings are wonderful: you are in the mountains, surrounded by nature, which allows you to disconnect and reconnect with yourself. I was lucky to share volunteering experiences with Brasil Landson and Rafael; Alex from Mexico; Olivia and Talila from France; Ezequiel from Argentina. And Divina, with whom I lived here in town.

I stayed for about 15 days with Sofía, and from the first moment I felt at home. I had to take care of Sofía's children, who are adorable. The mountain is beautiful, the bar's food is delicious, the beach, and the family make it a wonderful experience. Sofía is a great host and there was always clear communication. Dinho is also an incredible person and always willing to help you. The mountain is about 40 minutes from the town on foot; Sofía will always be willing to take you down to town if her schedule allows, but sometimes you'll have to walk down yourself, which can be tiring.

It's an experience unlike any other. It's up on the mountain, and we have access to bicycles both to go sightseeing and, at times, to put in the effort at the various places Teresa requires. There were schedules to be rearranged due to overload on some days, balancing hours and changes whether it was in the afternoon or in the morning. My flexibility and adaptability helped me to meet each activity. For meals, I recommend giving notice of shortages since it is an exchange. Mostly I spent time working the land with Sofia, a great host, attentive to making sure the volunteers are at ease. Grateful for everything!
