The Experience

You've just arrived in the countryside and I'm starting a project on sustainable agriculture. I need help, especially if you have experience. The tasks will be cleaning the forest and preparing the soil to cultivate aromatic plants and vegetables. The place is very privileged, with mountains and the sea - we are on the Costa Brava in Catalonia. We are vegetarians and you can learn a lot about vegetarian cooking. T is a good experience for those who like a quieter lifestyle and connected with nature. The host Sofia is kind, fun and can be flexible regarding working days/hours.

It is a good place to get in touch with nature. The work can be hard sometimes, but in general we had a good time. The host (Sofia) is lovely and very welcoming. I would recommend this for other travellers.

I stayed with a family for a month and it was a very good experience. From the beginning I felt comfortable and at home in that mountain house. Sofi, Teresa and Alice are very friendly, they are patient and I really enjoyed talking with them. The kids are very cute and Dinho (the other volunteer) is very kind and it was great to spend time with him. I also worked a bit in the restaurant and I learned a lot about vegetarian cooking (many very delicious dishes!). If you want to live the Spanish life, improve your Spanish, and meet very interesting people, I recommend this place!

My second volunteering experience, at Sofia and Teresa's house, was simply sensational. I truly felt part of the family. I lived incredible moments where I felt welcomed, protected, and I learned things I never imagined I would learn. It is near the sea and the town center. Moreover, the surroundings are wonderful: you are in the mountains, surrounded by nature, which allows you to disconnect and reconnect with yourself. I was lucky to share volunteering experiences with Brasil Landson and Rafael; Alex from Mexico; Olivia and Talila from France; Ezequiel from Argentina. And Divina, with whom I lived here in town.

I stayed for about 15 days with Sofía, and from the first moment I felt at home. I had to take care of Sofía's children, who are adorable. The mountain is beautiful, the bar's food is delicious, the beach, and the family make it a wonderful experience. Sofía is a great host and there was always clear communication. Dinho is also an incredible person and always willing to help you. The mountain is about 40 minutes from the town on foot; Sofía will always be willing to take you down to town if her schedule allows, but sometimes you'll have to walk down yourself, which can be tiring.
