RAD Hostel

Colorado Springs is the perfect location for experiencing the Pikes Peak region of the Rocky Mountains. Our location is in the city, but we're literally minutes from nature and some of the best hiking, biking, and rock climbing in the state. Garden of the Gods is less than 15 min from us and the base of Pikes Peak is only a 20 min drive. So many trails! We offer engaging activities- some onsite to encourage making new friends and some in the city or on the trail to connect guests and staff with the best the area has to offer. As much as we would love to explore and play all day, we do have a job to do and because we strive to give our guests a RAD experience, we work hard as a team and we get it done. We want our volunteers to leave with great memories of Colorado so we encourage a balance of work, adventure, and relaxation.

I am a high energy person who loves welcoming new guests and staff into our hostel. My love of everything Colorado means I enjoy connecting people to all of the best recreational and cultural activities in the area. Our team is super-friendly, fun, adventurous, hard- working, welcoming, and respectful. We love to laugh and have a good time. We're like a big family (from all over the world) so volunteers can expect to be treated like a brother or sister, but without the teasing... okay maybe a little teasing. We can't wait to meet you and show you around!

From day one, the hostel felt like home. The team was incredibly patient and welcoming, giving me time to adapt to the culture, tasks and rhythm of the hostel. Erin is a wonderful human being, full of energy and passion. I met amazing people and loved how there was always something bringing everyone together: bonfires, hikes, games, movies and events. the hostel truly has a special magnet for fantastic people. Its mission, “cure the loneliness,” is more than a slogan; it's something you experience every day. In just six weeks, the hostel became a life-changing experience.

The hostel is the best. I went there to escape “real” life for a while and reset myself during a time I was struggling, and that's exactly what happened. The work is easy and manageable; I mostly did housekeeping, and it felt refreshing to stay productive but not have to be stressed about it. The people are the best part, especially the other staff members. There are so many adventures to be had here, and you will always find a buddy who wants to explore with you. It is truly a beautiful place with a beautiful community!

I'm certain you've heard of the saying, "time flies when your having fun" and that indeed is what happened throughout my experience with the hostel team, causing me to prolong my stay. Erin has created a family oriented community that makes it truly feel like home with its comforting environment. From all the great adventures exploring nature and the local events, to backyard BBQ's and bonfires & awesome team efforts, the hostel really lives up to its name. Every guest is now a friend of this family, who comes back to visit along with their family and friends, which helps expand the community & I 💜 it.

Honestly, I have no idea where to start. I just got back from the best summer of my life. I set out there, knowing I wanted to change and do good, but not knowing how to do it. I was shown by the staff how to slow down and enjoy life again. The work could be rough some days, sure, but it's always worth it. Being so in touch with nature and myself again is incredible. Erin is running a really special place and you should all want to be apart of it. Forever grateful for the beautiful hikes and amazing friendship that the hostel brought me.
