The Experience

Hi there! We're a seaside hostel located in Strandhill, Co. Sligo, along the Wild Atlantic Way. We reopened under new management last year and had an amazing summer season with a great team! As we're heading into busier months, we're looking to expand our current team and appreciate your interest in checking out our listing. We run a local surf school (Strandhill has a major surf scene!), so we tend to host many groups who are booked in to surf!

The hostel was an incredible volunteer experience. I arrived in July and actually ended up extending from my initial plans to only stay till the end of August. Zuhe (and Chloe before she got her new job (congrats girl!)) were excellent hosts and instantly made me feel welcome. The work was varied and fun and never too much. Strandhill was a perfect little getaway town.

For anyone thinking of applying you absolutely should!

I spent a month and a half volunteering here and had a great experience. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, and communication with both the manager and the rest of the staff was excellent. I felt very comfortable and part of the team from the beginning. I would definitely recommend this place.

I had a great time volunteering at the hostel! I especially loved spending time with the other volunteers, cooking together, exploring the nearby nature and taking surfing lessons (you get 3 lessons for free!). Zuhe and Chloe were always happy to help whenever I needed anything and were absolutely lovely to be around. The working hours are always respected and the tasks are easy, so you get plenty of free time. Strandhill is a small town, so it can feel quiet at times, but Sligo is just a short bus ride away and has everything you need, including great pubs and music. Highly recommended, thanks!

Best volunteering experience I've had so far, surrounded by great people and the work is very fair and balanced. Zuhe went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable tenure at the hostel and was a fun manager to have around the place. I'm very grateful for the time I spent here and I would reccommend to anybody wanting to see a beautiful part of Ireland! Just a stones throw from the beach with plenty of hikes nearby, and the surf lessons helped me learn a lot about surfing! Thanks Chloe for making me feel welcome from day 1! Highly reccommend this experience!!
