The Experience

We’re an American couple who immigrated to Denmark. We have a kindergartener and a young teen. Our daughter’s labor and delivery six years ago was unfortunately a nightmare of malpractice that resulted in her mom (Sally) having a series of strokes. You cannot tell when you first meet Sally but she’s disabled in several ways that affect her mothering. Our biggest commitment in life is to have our kids thrive. So we seek volunteer help!

My time with Sally, Dan, Liam, and Allie in Denmark was so lovely! If you love energetic kids, sweet pets (they have an adorable cat and dog), relaxing nature, close proximity to the city, immersion of local life, and feeling like you’re really helping then this is the place for you! Also a great place if you want to try out new recipes and cook for the family. They’re very open to trying new food and super tolerant of dietary restrictions! Copenhagen has so much to teach you about a super livable society too! Thanks so much for having me, I hope to see you all again one day! 🫢🏼❀️

I can't recommend this experience enough! Sally and Dan are lovely and communicative, they made sure that I had all I needed and that my off days/breaks were always respected. It was very easy to connect with them and with the kids. Allie and Liam are smart, generous, creative and a very fun company that taught me more than I ever thought. In my six weeks with them I felt at home in a peaceful neighborhood, I got to visit the beautiful city of Copenhagen and I enjoyed amazing trips to nature. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better time there. My heart is full. I can't wait to come back!

Sally & her family were absolutely amazing! Everyone was super sweet and it was such an amazing experience. I always felt incredibly safe, looked out for, and heard and they were super good about making distinctions between my days on vs off (which can be hard when you have little kids who don't fully understand that concept). They were also super helpful with helping me figure out how to explore different parts of Denmark. The work was easy and incredibly fun with the best kids. I can't recommend their family enough and I know am really look forward to seeing them again one day.

This was my first world packers experience and my first time in Denmark and I can say it has been a great one and I am happy I chose it. I stayed with Sally and Dan and their family for 3 weeks and I have learned so much during my stay and grown as a person. They are very empathetic, communicative and helpful people, who respect and encourage boundary setting and a healthy environment. I felt like I was part of the family and got attached to the children more than I expected. ❀️

This was the perfect Worldpackers experience for me. Sally, Dan, and the kids are so inviting, welcoming, and loving. They are so appreciative of your help, but they also make sure you have ample time to explore Copenhagen. I enjoyed beach days with them, played board games, and learned so much about Danish culture. I took sunset bike rides to the nearby bird sanctuary, and it took only 40 minutes to get to the city by public transportation. My only regret is not staying longer :).
