The Experience

Help run everything that happens at PLH Sanuki, a community hub in a converted schoolhouse in rural Kagawa, Japan: community gatherings, AI management bootcamps, festivals and student camps. A paid job, not an unpaid exchange: a working holiday contract at the current Kagawa Prefecture minimum wage, with a free room in staff housing. Working holiday visa for the paid role, or ask about our cultural exchange. Fun, fast-paced, yours to shape.

I had a really amazing time here! It was super fun meeting amazing people from all over the world, and all the students were wonderful to work with. We had the chance to connect and play volleyball with locals, so that was super special as well. Thank you for a great time!

The project has been my best volunteering experience. Working with people who genuinely believe in what they do and are committed to improving the lives of others has been amazing. The school and the area were even better than I expected, and I have learned so much. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of this.

The project was my first Worldpackers experience and it sure set the bar high. As soon as I walked in the door, I was warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. The accommodations are the best one could hope for, with spacious solo rooms and kitchens to work with. The working hours are accurate and there is plenty of room to get more involved by pitching your own ideas. The Japanese community here is incredibly strong, these are some of the warmest and kindest people out there. Finally, the volunteers I've met throughout my stay made this experience a life changing one. Thank you.

This was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Leaving was very hard because the people made me feel completely at home. The shared houses are great, and having your own room is a big plus. I had the chance to meet locals who were incredibly welcoming and kind. I was surrounded by creative people, so there was always something to do or somewhere to explore, including trips to Takamatsu and nearby islands. It was a warm, inspiring community, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable cultural experience. I miss them so much already! highly recommended <3

The project was, I thought, some quiet rural english lessons and landscaping work. "Underestimation" puts it mildly. I was, as you will be, afforded so much opportunity here: Speaking more Japanese with the locals than ever elsewhere; Bonding with the tightest of volunteer families, lead by Big Looch; Trips out of the admittedly quiet Sanuki to Tsuda, Takamatsu, the islands and more; Eating (and cooking!) delicious foods; Total freedom to put your personality into Sanuki. I don't think I breathed for the intense positivity of my last couple weeks and it hurt to come up for air as I finally left. ありがとー
