The Experience

Help us make Shangrila more beautiful, alive and welcoming. You may create paths and chill-out areas, cut grass, prune trees, care for plants, shape outdoor spaces and possibly help start a vegetable garden. This is a great role for someone who enjoys working with nature, using their hands, and seeing the landscape slowly transform through their care and creativity. 🌿🌻

The community is a home away from home. I met a group of people from around the world with different cultures and backgrounds. The reason why we were all able to get along so very easily was because our values were aligned. the community is oozing with hospitality and respect. The only problem I have was wishing I stayed longer .

I had a great time at the community! Learned a lot of things, especially with gardening tools. But whatever you want to learn there, you will get teached nicely, and there is much to learn!! I also learned how to do my own veggie gardens and that is really helpful for my future🤩☘️🥬🫜 I got along with everyone really good, I was at a quiet time there with not so many volunteers and could focus on myself and enjoyed Sicily. Thank you Mauna😺

From the moment I arrived, Mauna welcomed me into the community. I was quite shy, but his openness & kind encouragement helped me come out of my shell & reconnect w personal interests I'd forgotten. I really felt part of a tribe here, included & valued. I quickly learned many skills, like foraging, cooking, living off-grid (i.e. rainwater for daily use, making conserves from foraged olives etc). Mauna is a generous host, passionate about sharing his knowledge on ecology, holistic practices & more. He also offered Reiki, which I found deeply healing. Feel v grateful for the special experience

I spent two weeks at the Shangrilà eco-village and it was a very interesting and instructive experience. Mauna is a very knowledgeable person and very good at making you feel at home. I spent some pleasant days immersed in nature and silence. Even though it was my first experience in this type of village, Mauna always tried to involve me in daily and spiritual activities. He was very patient in explaining my tasks and very open to discussion. This certainly helped make this experience authentic and truly impactful. I thank Mauna for this opportunity and hope to return soon!
