The Exchange

If you want to help build women up who have been torn down their whole lives, then this is the opportunity for you. Women of Angola commonly face discrimination, lower social status, lack of economic self-sufficiency, and a great risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, meaning they need help and support from volunteers like you.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Restaurants: Get discounts at nearby restaurants.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details

This program works closely with centers throughout the city of Benguela to support underserved women develop and carry out income generation activities. Over the long term, these women will be able to support themselves and create better futures for their families. The centers you’ll work with provide financial and educational guidance, with entrepreneurship and group activities including basket weaving, sewing, tailoring, and jewelry-making. As a volunteer, you’ll educate women on financial management strategies and provide counseling on vocational skills and self-esteem.
