I would fully recommend going to Spoon and the stars. Working there is a very fun adventure, there is always new people to meet and nice things to do in the surroundings, the town is nice. The work we do is simple and quick, sometimes can be a little time consuming but nothing you cannot finish during your schedule. Everything is well organized and Rory, Sal and Hanna (the bosses) are ready to help at any time. It's easy to feel home because everybody is very welcoming. I loved my time at the Spoon and the stars, I learned a lot and would for sure go back and work there again as a volunteer.
S&S was a really welcoming and cozy experience. Rory and the staff were extremely kind, instructive, and attentive to any questions/concerns I had. The duties primarily included housekeeping with the ability to do reception should you wish! The staff room was full, which was a bummer, to be honest, but oh well! The city itself is quaint. This area is a decent base should you wish to see Dublin or Belfast. The heart of S&S is its community feel. It really does feel like family, even though I decided to cut my time short to pursue a life back in the States. Thanks for your hospitality, Rory!
The hostel es the most lovely place in the city and the staff members are amazing, always helping each and others is almost like a family. The city is a kind of quiet and with a very interesting energy, totally different to something you can find in Latinamerica. It has a few of good pubs around and it's very close to Dublin. I made a very good friends that I'm sure I gonna keep in touch with them. This was my first time doing a volunteer work like this and I think it couldn't be better!
We are a homely 30-bed hostel in the town of Drogheda, which is located firmly within the historic Boyne River valley of Co Louth. Myself and Rory own and run the hostel. We have taken it from being known as the worst hostel in Ireland (under a previous name) to now being the 2nd best hostel/B&B accommodation in Drogheda on Trip Advisor. We are a very down-to-earth, fun couple that love meeting new people and are always trying to create a u...About the host
