The Experience
VOLUNTEER DUTIES: 1. Help teach children 2. Help to mark the books 3. Help children to read especially vocabulary (English) 4. Help children with creative activities like outdoor events eg. Sport, poetry, traditional dance, drama, clubs like debate club 5. Interact with Orphan and. Visit (Orphans) guardian homes. 6. Play with children and help them to smile

This experience was socially amazing, but for me the hygiene conditions of the house are not good. I was working on the project, but I preferred to stay at a hostel

I volunteered with my partner to help out with construction. We paid in advance so it came as a shock when it was explained that our money had been used by another volunteer and that if we wanted to keep building/finishing tasks, we would have to finance everything. Our offer of splitting costs 50/50 was declined. We met another volunteer who was staying at the same time and revealed she had paid a small fortune to have any tools and materials in order to have work to do. We 3 agreed it sadly felt like a scam and that volunteers are taken advantage of. On the plus side, the kids are fantastic.

I did have a great time with Ivor, Sillar and the children at the school! Living with the locals, sharing experiences and getting to know their roots and also helping the children and the environment was just incredible. I defo recommend it!
