The Experience
Hello from the most beautiful city in Japan: Kyoto! We are looking for cleaning staff for our Guest house :) Work is 3h/day with 2 days off/ week, and in exchange you get free accommodation and big discounts in our cafe, in the first floor. We need responsible and tidy people who likes to clean and is interested in living in Kyoto for at least one month. If you feel you fit, and want to come over here, we will be happy to host you! I had a great time, especially because of the kind and fun staff. The hours were always as agreed upon, below 3h per day. If there are only two people cleaning it takes about 2.5h on less busy days. With three people it's easier and can be done fairly quick, even under two hours on busy days. So, it depends how many helpers are available and on the season. The work itself is very easy and less compared to other experiences I've had. Of course, since it is such a huge international hostel some, people leave more dirt unfortunately. But, overall, I loved it and would highly recommend it. 😊👍

Wira is a good manager and was accommodating of my schedule. Mingma, Tapa and Weng round out an easy-going, competent staff. This is my first work-exchange experience. That said, I would recommend the hostel. There is a kitchen, which will save you a lot of money. There is also a cafe and lounge area which you can use during and after hours. This is Japan, so space is a premium. That said, the tasks are easy enough and it is a premium location.

The hostel is really well placed for seeing Kyoto and the surrounding areas. The team were all pleasant and easy to get along with, and I had fun with both guests and everyone else working there. Work was less than I expected and can incredibly quick, plus you can very quickly pick up what is expected. Any minor issues are things you'd expect in any hostel, like some guests being inconsiderate, and were really minimal. If you want a good time in Kyoto, I definitely recommend the hostel!

It was a good experience, the staff members are nice and friendly. They're also very welcoming of newcomers and often we went out to eat or grab a drink. The work is basic and simple which leaves you plenty of time to go around. Plus the hostel is in a great location to visit Kyoto. Just know that you will be sleeping with everyone and it can get noisy.

The hostel is very well placed and gets you to connect and help a lot of travelers staying for months to a few days. The work is much less than I expected and the staff is welcoming and fun to work with.
