The Experience

Main tasks consist of cleaning (rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, toilets etc.) and housekeeping. Sometimes we need help in our cute but very busy cafe/gift shop in Glenorchy with a B&B in the garden. Work includes serving food & drinks, taking orders and cleaning the B&B. Other work may include general maintenance/odd jobs, such as chopping wood, cutting branches, mowing lawns, weeding etc. We try to use your skills as best we can.

The guest house was amazing! the guest house team is happy and friendly, work was easy and not hard, not many hours, the food was amazing, and the whole place is beautiful and clean! The manager Portia is the sweetest person in the world, Toni the owner as well, always happy, and John is always smiling ;) thanks for these days! i hope come back here again

Getting to stay at the guest house was overall a wonderful experience - I got to fully connect with nature and experience life in a breathtakingly beautiful and remote part of the world. Everyone I worked and lived with was kind and welcoming, and I'm very grateful for the time I got to spend there. I do think this experience is better for short-term travelers rather than those looking for long-term commitments, since the 20 hours worked in exchange for accommodation do feel like a bit much considering what the other workers I lived with paid for their own rent. Overall, I loved my stay at the guest house!

The guest house lodge rests at the top of the lake and is quite isolated but if that's what you're looking for you'll find no better place to be amongst the mountains and nature. There are sandflies so be prepared, however the staff are very welcoming and happy to help with any needs you may have.
