I had a wonderful time learning about the Ugandan culture and lifestyle. It was a fantastic experience that taught me so much about the food, lifestyle, culture, school, people and community of Uganda. The experience was very opening and I learnt a lot about Uganda and myself in the 2 weeks that I stayed there.

Volunteering in the project, Uganda was the best thing that I will never ever forget. Thanks to Mr. William and his beautiful, hospitable, warm family I enjoyed every second there. I met a lot local people, I take photos that make me like I was photographing for some documentary movie. I saw how people live there, I try my best to help with what I can, and to see the difference in ours lifes. I collected memories that I take with me under the skin and come back to my life that will never be the same. It's a big, big, big thanks to all the people there. I hope I'll see them again.

Be aware that it's a good bit outside of Kampala. If you want to experience the local way of living and be a true part of it, this is the right place! Don't worry, you will adapt faster then you think:) Remember to bring some soap and toilet paper. Don't forget to take out cash directly when you arrive at the airport so you can buy water and breakfast. There is a village very close by if you need anything. No matter what, you will for sure leave Macerudet with memories and story's for life. I will always remember and be grateful for the wonderful people I met under my time in the project.

I recommend volunteering at MACERUDET if you'd like an authentically local Uganda experience, you will involved in various ways depending on your preferences. If you like cooking for example you can help out in the kitchen and learn how to cook traditional Ugandan food. You can also help out in the family garden if you prefer. I had a good experience here

William is a kind and generous person who made me feel like one of the family members. I was sick in the first week and they took care of me. I loved the school I went to every day. The children were lovely. Mr Living and the rest of the teachers at the school were always welcoming. We were surrounded by banana plantations and beautiful scenery. I won't forget this experience.
