I had an amazing time at the hostel, I met so many amazing people and made some very good friends. The work is manageable and the hours are as described (sometimes less depending on workload). Tim was an amazing manager, always making everyone in the group feel comfortable and at home. The group dinners make it easy to bond with the other volunteers and creates a good sense of community. All the staff at the hostel also make sure you feel welcome and are very friendly. I'll miss everyone from this hostel and hopefully I can see them again

From the start you feel invited, at home, and surprised by the hostel itself. Here is very beautiful, alongside the actual staff, and especially Wim, Saskia, and Tim. Everyone here is warm, kind, and the schedules are respected alongside tasks easily learned. My time here is one I didn't expect, and I'd recommend this experience to anyone. Hope to be back :)

The best experience I have had as a volunteer ❤️ The hostel, the city and all the volunteers 🥰 and staff made me have a great time. Tim is the best coordinator and always looking after everything we need and making sure we have a great time, I will miss sharing laughs with him every day but I will take the best memories with me.🥰 Thanks for everything!!!! ❤️🤙❤️🤙❤️

Truly can't say enough good things about the hostel. Aside from the excellent amenities and beautiful location, where HIL excels is in creating a sense of community between both volunteers and staff. A shared grocery budget + team dinner every night are a big reason for this (IMO). The work is very fair, scheduling is flexible, and expectations are super clear (thanks in large part to Tim). My only real complaint was that, despite having spent 2 months here, the entire experience went by far too quickly.

I absolutely loved my time at the hostel! The hostel is incredibly cozy, and everyone is so helpful and kind. Haarlem is a lovely, quiet city just a quick train ride away from Amsterdam, making it a perfect place to stay. Regarding the work, the schedule is fair, and they always respected my days off. Tim is definitely the best host ever; he made me feel completely at home and never failed to make me laugh :) the hostel incredibly grateful for having met so many wonderful people and achieved my goal of improving my English. Thank you very much for the amazing opportunity <3
