The Experience

I need your help to maintain the hostel and teach English to my Japanese students. You DON'T have to be from a native English-speaking country. When its busy, we usually have activities from around 10am to 2pm, preparing the room for coming guests. The work involves cleaning the rooms and keeping the house clean. I can cover your food cost!

Kai is a warm and thoughtful person, who is very caring toward his community. He is really great with the local kids, especially-- whether he is teaching them English or helping do exercise classes at the local elementary school, you can tell that the kids love him. the hostel is a special place in a beautiful, small community. The people in Sagamiko are lucky to have Kai. He made me feel welcome and well-looked-after.

I have spent a great time with Kai, besides I have been able to live new experiences and be in contact with the local culture. If you like nature and want to get to know Japanese culture up close, I highly recommend this destination. Hope to see you again Kai!! :)

Kai was an intelligent conversationalist and an outstanding sensei whom I definitely learned a lot from. He was also incredibly polite, attentive, and empathetic. The property was amazing, (also a stone's throw away from Tokyo) and Kai's inspiring vision for the local community has me excited for my next visit. Teaching the students was a joy, we had fun and I will miss this time in Japan very much. Being in nature and surrounded by a supportive community allowed me to connect with my mind and body in a transformative way. This experience will always enrich me. Okagesama de Kai san!

Kai's place is awesome. It's an excellent place to learn about Japan and to get to know a small community in Sagamiko. The people are all very welcoming and the place is very quaint and unique. The work isn't difficult and there's optional training which is great for improving your discipline. I would definitely recommend staying with Kai for at least 2 weeks but a longer stay will for sure teach you more.

I enjoyed working at the hostel. The scenery was great! The cleaning of the hostel was easy and straightforward. The students were kind and friendly. You will teach middle school students and high school/college students. The classes were mostly conversational English. Cleaning starts at 10 am. The lessons start around 17:30 to 21:00. (5:30-8) So, I had time to explore the area. I liked how we all took turns making lunch and dinner. I got to try amazing food. Kai was a kind and welcoming host. He made sure that I was comfortable and would answer all my questions.
