The Experience

Bienvenidos, estoy arreglando (en sus fases iniciales) una CASA de PUEBLO ANTIGUA cerca de VillaVieja de Yeltes (es donde se duerme y hay servicios básicos), se ayuda por la mañana quedando libres las tardes y el finde. Se hacen tareas de desescombro, limpieza, replanteamiento de estancias para su posterior uso y restauración. No se usa por parte del voluntario ningún tipo de maquinaria y se evita cualquier riesgo. Se usan guantes.

Manuel is an amazing person. Kind, patient and very passionate about the local area. Unfortunately I only stayed one might, but this was no fault of Manuel - I am very tall and his home is not built for me! To stay longer my head would be bruised and his home destroyed! Additionally, to stay would have meant sharing a room with a couple, I knew this was always a possibility but had not properly considered it and was not comfortable with it. I cannot comment on the work itself but I believe Manuel would be kind and fair in this regard.

The work was enjoyable and he took us on fun excursions to museums and other towns!! He was very hospitable as well. While our Spanish is good, there were times when we weren't able to understand all of his instructions or he was unclear with his expectations. The town was adorable and he makes delicious pizza!!

Kaelan, it has been an enriching experience to have two such young people (most of all the volunteers), you have been a great help. I am glad that you enjoyed the excursions that I gave you although your Spanish was quite basic but I hope that you learned with the other volunteers and me too ,that we made an effort to teach you. Overall this was a great experience! The project we were working on is very cool, the old house is full of interesting stuff. The work is fulfilling and attainable. Don't pass up the opportunity when Manuel offers to take you on excursions, they are definitely the highlight! The food is good, the house where you stay is cozy, and Manuel is very kind and committed to making sure you have a good experience and learn a lot. Personally, we struggled a bit with communication due to our intermediate Spanish, so sometimes we didn't fully understand him which led to some tensions. But great!!!!!

Has been a pleasure to have your help Isaac, I am glad that you have taken advantage of and enjoyed all the excursions that I give you. Your Spanish is not intermediate, in fact I hardly heard you speak Spanish beyond 2 jokes , but you have many years ahead of you to learn it. Isaac, if at some point there could be some tension it is because someone tells you yes yes yes I understand and in reality it is no no no but they don't tell you, but in short: it has been very fun and positive. If you had already spoken Spanish, it would have been perfect. Thank you Thank you for your sincere help. Your americano handmade mosaic is near to put in wall, I'll send photos.

Manuel, o anfitrião, é um homem de caráter e generoso. Seus vizinhos gostam muito dele. Aprendi muita coisa com ele, seus conselhos, sua forma humana de ver o mundo, e sempre que questiona o faz de forma culta e certeira, quase não há como contestar-lo,haha Foi uma experiência incrível, melhorei meu espanhol, tive contato com moradores locais, contato com o projeto de revitalização na fazenda, pessoas super amigáveis e amáveis, o povo de VillaVieja de Yeltes. Algum voltarei, obrigado por tudo Manuel.

Manuel fue super acogedor y respetuoso en todo momento durante el voluntariado. Es súper simpático y te presenta a todos los vecinos del pueblo. La comida siempre estaba rica y nunca falto el desayuno, almuerzo y cena. Manuel siempre trata de variar las tareas de trabajo con tal de que uno no se aburra haciendo lo mismo. En las horas libres, puedes pasear y correr bici por varias rutas en el pueblo. En los fines de semana, Manuel te lleva en excursiones a varios pueblos y te explica sobre la historia de cada uno. Tuve una experiencia muy positiva con Manuel en Pozos de Hinojo!
