The Experience
We've had great experiences with volunteers with some returning again and again. We have a variety of projects for you from restoring historic buildings to gardening, room cleaning, fruit tree care, landscaping, organizing to painting. We're restoring this historic site as an eco-retreat center and small inn. We look forward to sharing plant-based foods and sustainability practices.

My 5 weeks at the Center was a joy. Ryan and Corina have a beautiful establishment and have created an environment that nourishes the soul. Corina is an empathetic listener who adapts to your needs. There is plenty of work to do at FLI and many different types of jobs, Most of the time, you're outdoors with sunshine, fresh air, and the sound of waves on the beach. The food is good. In my regular life I'm a keto carnivore but have an open mind and give it a try. Bottom line, my experience at the Center was everything that I needed and wanted.

I'm incredibly grateful for my time at the Center—it was nothing short of amazing! From the very beginning, Corina and Ryan were warm, kind, and welcoming. I loved being just a short walk from the ocean, snorkeling every day. The work was fair, though at times challenging due to the heat and humidity. During my stay, I learned so much about veganism, the culture of St. Croix, and the rich ecosystem of the Caribbean. I also had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. I will forever cherish my time here!

Staying at the Center was an amazing experience and I'm very grateful for my time there. The location is so beautiful, I loved being able to swim or snorkel everyday and I hope I can go back soon. Corina and Ryan were both so kind from the beginning and I felt very welcomed. The work can definitely be challenging in the climate, but I did learn about a lot of new things which I enjoyed. I'd definitely recommend this for experiencing a vegan lifestyle and spending a lot of time with nature.

My time at the Center was so special! Being surrounded by beautiful nature and having the ocean right at our doorstep to go swimming and snorkeling every day was amazing. The work was fair (though sometimes physically demanding due to heat and humidity) and the agreed-upon hours were respected. It was a great team of volunteers while I was there which enhanced my experience. Ryan and Corina Reare great hosts, always make sure to advocate for yourself and they will accommodate you. I would recommend other travelers to come here if they want to connect to nature and plant-based lifestyle.
