The Experience

Anthony and I have 3 children (age 10, 13 and 14) and live quite a self-sustaining life of growing and preserving vegetables, keeping hens and fishing for mackerel. We homeschool our children who are all learning French and would really appreciate someone to converse with them in French whilst slotting into our family routine. If you enjoy young minds, like playing games (chess/board games) and the outdoor life then you'll enjoy it here!

My experience with the Parfitt family was amazing, you feel at home with them. You can learn pottery and crochet, the kids help you a lot to improve your English. Going to the countryside was great and preparing some dinners was a pleasure. We will miss them a lot. Yayita, Idilia, SJ, Maria and Anthony will always be in my heart ❤️.

It was my first volunteering and I can say with complete clarity that it was an experience that I will always cherish, thank you very much Anthony for teaching me the art of ceramics, Maria, thank you for letting me make some typical dishes from my country, you are a great family, the children Euan , Idilia and Shirley-Jane left a wonderful mark on me, also connecting with volunteers like Aline, Luis and Lorena made my experience wonderful. Thank you for teaching me about your culture and a little English. God bless you more every day. I'm going to miss them

I had my first volunteer experience with the Parfitt family and it couldn't have been better. Everyone has an endearing personality and takes an interest in you. They always have a kind word to say and time to give you if you need it. It feels like being part of the family. I taught French and did a bit of food preparation, I had never done it before and I was pretty stressed, but Maria explained everything very well and there's no pressure, so you really enjoy doing it. She's very patient and always answers questions with a smile. It was a very enriching experience and wonderful meetings.
