The Experience

I own a seven bedroom Bed and Breakfast in beautiful Somerset close to the medieval city of Wells. We receive guests from all over the world and it is lots of fun here, but a lot of work too! My three children and I enjoy meeting people and having help from volunteers all over the world. Hopefully you'll have lots of fun here meeting us and all of our guests :)) And since May 2024 we have a puppy, so even more fun!

I had a lovely time at the guest house. Sarah and her family are very friendly, kind and welcoming. They have a puppy called Red (his fur is actually black which is funny) who's so cute. Sarah is very good at delegating the tasks and communication was always great. The tasks aren't hard in my opinion. I had my own room and bathroom and you are free to use the kitchen to cook for yourself. The area and the house are peaceful and beautiful. Nearest little city to explore is Wells which is quite charming, with good connections to Glastonbury, Bristol and Bath. I would definitely recommend!

It was my first volunteer experience and could not have been better. Sarah and her family are extremely warm and friendly, not to mention the new addition to the family Redd the puppy. The work was straightforward and personal time was well respected. Local town was around a 45 minute walk and there's a bus, although it's quite infrequent otherwise the family are happy to give lifts. The surrounding area was nice and peaceful with loads of public walking paths. Definitely recommend this experience!

Honestly the best first time experience, she was amazing and helpful with anything we needed a hand with,definitely was homely feel provided. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, solo or couple travellers. She recently got a puppy which made this experience even more fun and exciting. Food as well as accommodation provided was amazing and perfect to settle into.

My experience was absolutely lovely! All the hours and tasks were respected and the house is located in a really nice and peaceful region. Sarah and the girls were great people to be around! It felt like a home and Sarah's food was amazing! Definitely recommend this experience!

I could not have asked for a more perfect experience. The work was exactly as expected, and very fair for what you get in return — a lovely room, surrounding area, and deliciously cooked food! I actually really enjoyed the work and getting to know the guests. I loved exploring in and around Wells, and I had a very relaxing and lovely stay. If you're looking for an experience that helps you recoup and reconnect, this is the place. The best part of my time there was by far Sarah and her family — I will be coming back to visit soon, just because they were all so lovely! Highly recommend 🥰
