I was surprised to be told that the volunteer position was not for the guest house but actually for the hostel nearby. The hostel was a bit in a bad shape overall, especially the kitchen areas. The volunteer dorm was okay, although I got assigned the only bed whose ladder was blocked by the drawer, so I had to climb every night to go to bed. Not suited for someone with mobility issues. The shift was okay, although quite boring because of low season. There were some nights I didn't make any cocktails at all. Overall it was OK.

I had an enjoyable experience at the guest house hostel. As a bartender, I worked from 6:30pm-12:30am from Wednesday-Sunday. My work included serving beer, making a few cocktails, helping with the dishes and kitchen, cleaning the restaurant area, and tracking all of the orders in Excel. The breakfast is tasty. The volunteer dorms were nice. Everyone was very friendly and made me feel at home. The location is also quite near the La Candelaria part of the city. If you are interested in exploring Bogotá, I would recommend volunteering here.

Food tasteless Bed uncomfortable Dangerous area for a night shift work. Overwork The building is huge old in a poor condition The must improve alot. What they offer doesn't compence all the hard work you have to do. And the uncomfortable environment of the hostel. I don't recommend for volunteering.

Karina, I think you were in the wrong experience. You didn't even start the induction and you were not feeling comfortable and not being cordial with the other members of the staff. I think you didn't reed the conditions and were not aware of the meaning of a volunteer.

My experience at the guest house were great. The job was quite fun, everybody was very helpful and the hostel has a nice vibe, you always meet new people& especially the roof top is nice for good evenings. Moreover it is one of the most beautiful hostels i've stayed during my trip. I truely recommend this hostel for volunteering. thanks juan and camilo :)
