The Experience

We've tons of jobs on the 'must get around to fixing / making that' list, and of course caring for the dogs takes priority so these things just pile up. You will need a decent level of DIY skills, be competent and safe with power tools, and not be scared of dogs! At times we may not have things to make or fix, so then you'd be helping with the dogs alongside the other volunteers - walking, grooming, cleaning up after etc.

The task are very clear and Sarah is a very organized person, you know your shifts on advance every week, the house for the volunteers is very conformable with a very well equipped kitchen. At the moment there weren't to many the project at the shelters so the cleaning was easier and you could spent more time walking and being with them, the project and the two cats are so lovely, you will miss them when you leave

If you feel that you want to give value to your trip, you might be interested in placing your energy and your heart in this place where you can experience that you make some furry friends who need your help and your time, they just want to be happy and loved ones maybe like you. You won't regret it if you love the project. I thank the project Dog team for their effort and desire to continue being a safe place for these souls. The amenities at the volunteer lodging facility have been the best. Bansko is a Mayan town that you will not know anywhere else. The worst thing was say Good bay.

Unfortunately my time here was cut short because of a family emergency. However the experience was amazing. The host was incredibly supportive, went above and beyond in my opinion. Everyone was very welcoming and the volunteer apartment was fantastic. The work itself required your full attention but it was extremely rewarding. I wish I could have spent more time there but life happens sometimes. 100% recommend to anyone who loves the project. The work you do is important and it's a brilliant way to learn more about caring for/training the project. An awesome experience!

My experience here was nonetheless eye opening. Gaining the project trust is an process, yet overtime, you learn to love all their different personalities. The effort you put in is an direct reflection of the progress made with them. Where you stay is cozy and central (nice homey vibes). Also Sarah is truly dedicated, driven, and always puts her ALL in each day. If you have genuine love the project, don't mind being patient and working hard, this is THE place for you. (Also the mountains, nature, ah… never gets old. Aswell great place to snowboard/ski (make sure to ask for Boris 😉)

We loved our stay at the project! The work is reasonable, and the project so sweet, each with their own personalities that you learn along the way. We were here near the end of winter, so there's skiing and hiking to do, and it's in such a beautiful area. In the summer, it seems like there's lots of activities to do as well, and the work hours give lots of time to explore. If you love the project and want to learn more about them this is a really great place:)
