This experience was amazing, I had a private room, the food was delicious, and the family is so kind! I loved working with the butterflies, you are able to be very hands-on in the process. I was able to explore other parts of Costa Rica during my days off and see so much beautiful nature while learning all about the tiko culture. This was my first worldpackers experience and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to practice their Spanish, meeting amazing people, and spend their days surrounded by butterflies!

This was the best experience. I felt safe, welcome, and taken care of. I was able to learn a lot about butterflies, Costa Rica, the people, culture, and Spanish. The life here is very good for health and well being. I looked forward to my daily routine every day. The family is very passionate about their work and making sure that the volunteers have a good experience. We visited many view points. The work and rest ratio was perfect. I hope to return to the friends I made and the beautiful mountains of San Ramon.

Living with Alberto and his family has been an amazing experience for me. This is my first Worldpackers position and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about the beautiful environment in Costa Rica and practice Spanish in an immersive way. I truly have nothing to fault about my time spent learning and working at the farm. I have really learnt so much in the 3 weeks I have been here and have made lifelong friends. I have really grew in confidence so much to volunteer again in the future and would recommend coming here even if it's for a tour of the farm.

This experience was a fun way to connect with nature and the hosts were welcoming and enjoyable. Despite having minimal Spanish before, I now understand much more thanks to their help. However, I can't give 5 stars due to the overall cleanliness of the on-site living arrangements, which was the dirtiest I've encountered in various outdoor jobs. The $30 per day seemed high given the living conditions, food we were given, and the limited learning about butterflies which we were taught little of during working hours, given that there are other free WP options in CR. Fun if youre into butterflies!

The farm family were very kind and made a big effort to make the volunteers feel welcome and appreciated. They took us on excursions sometimes & tried to immerse us in their culture. I had a lot of opportunity to practice spanish. I am very grateful for the experience 💛 There are a few reasons for a less than five star rating: we were told same day that our previously agreed upon airport pickup was no longer possible. In addition, the shared house is uncomfortably dirty & at times, loud. In total not worth 30$ a day. I would recommend this experience, but with those items in mind! 🫶🏻
