The Experience

Begin the day by connecting with the sunrise of Taita Inti and Pachamama at our solar, stellar, and cultural altar. We expect volunteers to be willing and proactive in the daily activities that will take place during the morning shift. These include crop care, watering, maintenance of the altars (solar and temazcal), and the house. Our pillars are based on unity, alliance, brotherhood, and respect among all and with the ecosystem.

I'll finish the sentence like this: "I had a wonderful stay here. Mey and her family were so welcoming and friendly, and Mey cooked absolutely delicious lunches. Sometimes, her family and I cooked together for lunch, and I also did exercise with them. I've been in nature many places, but this place is absolutely the perfect spot to reconnect with myself. I'm truly grateful for the experience, and I highly recommend it."

My stay here was amazing. Mey was a wonderful host, her and her family were very welcoming. I learned a lot about the indigenous culture of Catarpe. The tasks were very rewarding, they consisted of gardening, repairs and looking after animals. The scenery here is amazing. We also got to take part in a temazcal ceremony which was one of the coolest experiences i've had on this trip. We ate lunch together everyday which was so wholesome and Mey's cooking was 10/10. Highly recommended!

Mey and her family were so welcoming and kind, Mey is one of the most caring, intelligent and knowledgeable people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This experience has made me appreciate a different way of life, focusing on what the earth gives us and how grateful we should be for it. The tasks were enjoyable and I got immediate satisfaction from being able to see my impact. The animals on the farm are amazing also. Mey shared her space with us allowed us to participate in a healing ceremony which has been one of the major highlights of my South America travelling experience this far.

My experience in Catarpe was great. It was a great way to fully immerse in nature and reconnect with myself through the time I spent helping in May's household and the time I spent by myself. I am very thankful for the opportunity I had here and everything I have learnt. Not a place for the fainted heart ones, but I would definitely recommend it to those who want to try something different.
