The communication with Akane-san is really satisfying and fast, we set everything in 2 weeks. The place is quite large and there is plenty to do and help with, even off-season. The amount of work was just as described, it is also possible to get a lift to do the grocery shopping and back if Akane-san is at the reception desk. The work is simple, and only cleaning baths requires more attention so as not to get wet when doing it. The place is just stunning, from one side there is Biwa Lake and from the other there are mountains. If you are looking for a place to rest and unwind this is it.

I had a one-month stay at the guest house. The communication with the manager, Akane-san was very smooth, we arranged everything, including the information needed for visa application within ~2 weeks. Also later, Akane-san provided us with constant support down to our arrival at the hostel. On place, the atmosphere was excellent, we immediately got along with other volunteers. The working hours and duties were respected. The amenities in the hostel made the free time super enjoyable. The neighborhood allowed for exploring the beauty of local mountains as well as Kyoto was very close.

Lake Biwa is a great place to get away from everything and just relax. Along the way you'll meet the coolest of people and share great moments together. Akane san and staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the work was as advertised. If you want you can practice your Japanese, if not, everybody speaks great English as well. The facility overall is very clean, but since the Guesthouse is located in the countryside, you will encounter some spiders and bugs here and there. Sometimes when it's full, especially in the dorms, guests can be quite noisy, but overall I definitely recommend.

The guesthouse is far from the city, but through that I could concentrate on nature and the lake through my travels. The staff were very nice and the guesthouse was filled with ways to learn about the area and its travel opportunities.
