The Experience

We believe that a child’s future success and advancement in life is greatly influenced by their early educational experience as those who have gone to school early develop an interest in education more than those who have not participated in early learning education – learning how to get along in groups, work under teacher supervision, etc. They also receive encouragement to express their feelings and ideas through building, dancing and drawing.

What an experience!! Our host family were so welcoming and gracious that we felt right at home! The fellow volunteers made for an amazing community. The school we taught at was awesome - the principal was very welcoming and the kids are incredibly eager to learn that we felt like we could really make a difference! If you want to do construction, you have to raise additional funds for the materials and labor help!! Only regret is that we didn't stay longer 😊

My wife, brother and I volunteered at the the organization and it was a great experience. We did construction at a local school and everyone was very friendly and helped us to learn Swahili. A nice surprise was that there was plenty of other volunteers there to hang out with. We even got to help tutor children at a local library after work (optional). Marccos cousin lives on the same property as the host family and speaks good English so he will help you do everything here. I would caution people to remember this is likely a very different culture from your own so be patient!

Marko was great. He hosted us at his mother's compound which had many kids for our daughter to engage with. The accommodations were very pleasing as we had a whole two room apartment all to ourselves. We were here during the holidays so the food and festivities were great to witness. I spent my time here first helping the library with some necessary supplies through a donation i received the first day arriving. Afterwards I was helping Olchoki Primary School continue to dig the well they have been working on for over 6 months to hit water. Hopefully thru donations, they can continue to dig.
