The Experience

A social hostel made for travelers by a traveler. Our garden bar is the perfect setting for our guests to not only share travel stories but a place to create them. We're looking for a bartender to join our volunteer crew. Our social volunteers run the daily hostel activities and jump behind the bar on busy moments. As a bartender you will be responsible for opening, running and closing the bar.

It was my first time volunteering at a hostel, and how lucky am I that it was an unreal experience! Everything was smooth, from contacting the host to arriving on my first day. I lived with three other volunteers in a separate house next to the hostel, which was perfect for some quiet space. The work was chill and honestly didn't feel like work. The guests were so kind and I met lots of cool people I'll definitely stay in touch with! The other volunteers and staff were great too. If you're thinking about volunteering at Cuckoos Nest, DO IT!!! Cheers!

I had a great time at the cuckoos the hostel! The owner Ben was on holiday during my stay, but he had an exceptional manager looking after us whilst he was. Jason was respectful, caring and overall a brilliant manager. I felt like my experience was that good because of the people I was working with. the hostel isn't too big, and allows it to feel like a family very quickly with the workers and the guests. My social battery did run out though! Definitely think 2 days off would allow people to recharge. I also think the cleaners should come more than once a week, with a more of a thorough clean.

I really enjoyed my time at the hostel, it became like a home to me. It was so nice to slow down my travels and living in a house with the other volunteers was definitely a massive highlight for me. Jason was an amazing manager for the team and i felt i could always go to him and be guided by him. I knew the expectations of me, and my role in the team and thought the work was very manageable and easy. You're mostly expected to mingle with the guests and make/serve drinks behind the hostel, in which you are trained on how to do. i would definitely recommend this experience! Thankyou Ben!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my month volunteering at the hostel. It was my first Worldpackers experience and my first time working in a the hostel, so I learned lots of new skills, including making cocktails. the hostel has a fun, welcoming and social atmosphere, with plenty of activities to keep things busy. Ben was a great boss—fair, approachable and appreciative of the effort you put in. I enjoyed it so much that I've decided to stay for a few more months. The volunteer house is right next to the hostel, and I've met some great people and made lasting friendships. I'd definitely recommend it!
