This was my first time ever volunteering at a hostel. It was absolutely incredible, and I made so many friends in such a short amount of time. Everyone was eager to know me and to make me feel welcomed. Despite my intermediate Portuguese, everyone spoke to me with an endearing patience. My Portuguese vocabulary improved substantially while working here. However, the volunteers were disallowed to use hostel washing machines/hangers (despite being apart of the original agreement) and we were made to change living areas on short notice. Hostel manager always prioritized safety of volunteers.

It was a great experience for me to be in this hostel volunteering, the people in charge of the hostel made me feel at home. They were really flexible with the schedule for me and always asked me when I preferred to have the days off. It was also really good for getting to know the city and the culture. I totally recommed this volunteer if you'd like to explore and know Sao Paulo and Brazil.

Feel really lucky that this was my first experience in Brazil! The location was great close to the metro and the hostel had many other volunteers, which made it easy to connect and make friends. The host was super kind, flexible, and always made sure we felt comfortable. There were also several events organized at the hostel, a fun way to experience local culture and get to know Brazil better. I'm very grateful for my time there and would definitely recommend this place to other volunteers!
