The Experience

Volunteers must keep the house clean and feed our dogs daily. Preferred: animal and nature lovers. You will join us for the kayaking tours and help our guide. If you have experience in this field, we can arrange for you to lead the tour with our guide. Sometimes we have DIY projects you can help with. If you are creative, we can discuss work that you can handle. You will experience living outside the city and village culture of Malaysia.

This place is so magical if you can see the magic in everything surrounding you ✨ Such a peaceful place to reflect, get creative, but also socialise with locals and learn about their cultures ( Malay, Chinese and Indians co- living peacefully and very respectfully towards each other ) AiVee created this awesome business & Chen, Art, Jeremy are the kayaking instructors, super fun to be around them ! Along side the daily tasks , I was also painting a big mural, reflecting the wild life, mangroves, purple heron, monkeys, a kingfisher, otters etc., Thank you all for your kindness ♥️ !

I’m also very grateful to Chen for taking such good care of me during my stay. He was like an older brother to me. He taught me so many things and introduced me to many of his friends. If you're planning to come here, I recommend bringing several pairs of loose, breathable long pants and mosquito repellent. Because in Malaysia, not only are the people warm and welcomin—— the mos too🤪

I had a wonderful experience here. The place is beautiful, peaceful and really enjoyable to stay at. The work was not too complicated and everything was explained clearly, witch made it easy to feel comfortable and useful from the start. The staff where absolutely amazing, always friendly and great to be around.
At times, you can find yourself a bit alone, but for me that was also part of the charm and gave me some quiet moments to enjoy the surroundings. Overall, this is a fantastic place for anyone looking for a meaningful and pleasant volunteer experience. I would definitely recommend it!

I had an amazing time at the lodge! AiVee, Chen, and Art were amazing and took great care of me. Some days were high intensity, hoping around the local town and then some are very quiet. Just you and the dogs alone at the house. I will say that a lot of the work is self led. You will get instruction and it is on you to take the initiative to start. So if you work well in that sort of environment I think the lodge will be a beneficial experience for you! Work can include cleaning, taking care of the dogs, repair projects on the house, or whatever you're interested in!

Thank you for your work. You help us a lot, and your initiative and friendly attitude make the whole project run smoothly. The few repair woodwork are nice. I highly recommend hosting Daniel.

The place is a hidden gem: it's peaceful, surrounded with the river, nature and wildlife (can see monkeys and otters very close to the house). Come here if you want to slow down from your travels, good place for quiet downtime and contemplating nature because the workload is light. Main tasks: feed the dogs, water the plants, keep the place clean, clean after the kayak tours (you can also join the kayak tours ).
I'm really grateful towards Aivee and Chen that made me discover the cultures, took me to local restaurants and places and even showed me how to cook Chinese dishes! Thank you 🫶
