Fundo Estrella is an agroecological project where we live in harmony with nature and work on the organic cultivation of Chuncho cacao, as well as the planting and care of ancestral cacaos, coffee, and fruits. As a volunteer, you can actively participate in fieldwork and in the processing of harvest, fermentation, drying, and chocolate making, in addition to other rural activities. This was a completely unforgettable experience! I visited during June, when the cacao is not producing, so I primarily learned how to harvest and mix soil, prepare seeds to be planted (and plant them), and plant some cacao trees! I do want to note that for me, it was not a very social environment, which was sometimes challenging as a solo traveler. If I were to come again, I think I would bring a friend or check that other volunteers or family members would be there, which would have eased the safety anxieties I had. Overall a great learning experience and the property is beautiful!!

I had a great time at the farm! Augusto and his family are so caring, and I felt supported by them the entire time. Even when I was a bit sick, they were flexible and thoughtful. This was a super interesting experience of learning about cocoa farming, connecting with the family, and learning about the local area.

The hosts are amazing, very nice people. The farm was beautifull. A great place to explore the nature and learn about cacao. I was there in low season in october so there was not lot to do.

We really enjoyed our time at the farm and learned everything about growing and processing cacao. The work was always fun and varied. Rodrigo, Augusto, and Maria made us feel right at home. They were very kind people, and the food was delicious, with plenty of cacao (even as vegetarians, the food was excellent for us). The farm is beautifully located , surrounded by nature. Thank you for the wonderful time; we would always come back!

Thanks for the wonderful experience in the farm, I enjoyed the time a lot! You can learn so many things here, and not just related with Cacao, the hosts were amazing all the time, you feel like home, love being sorrounded by nature and it is a won derful place to stay. I would love to come back one day and I would recommend it to everyone who travels in the area.
