The Experience

Located in the heart of the town of Chacahua, Mexico, La Lenteja is much more than a restaurant: it's a home, a community and a place where people gather around the tastiest lentil soup you will ever taste. We are a family-run place led by Monica and her daughter, a dynamic duo, where the island's flavors come to life. We are passionate about sharing our love for food, culture and the magical vibe of Chacahua.

Ita and her family are a cool crew of women and I felt lucky to be welcomed into their space. I appreciated their patience with my Spanish. While I had a hard time with pace of conversation sometimes, I always enjoyed our shared laughs. Ita was very understanding when I needed some flexibility and I felt supported.

At first, I was concerned about my ability to meet people, as night life is limited outside of Friday and Saturday and I worked from 5-10. But, after I adjusted to the heat and schedule, I met so many awesome people that welcomed me to share ceviche or beers - I loved my time.

I spent a few incredible weeks at La Lentejas! 🫶 Chacahua is already a magical place in its own right, but this experience meant so much to me. From the first day they made me feel welcome and part of the place. The atmosphere was very lovely, calm, and humane, and I’m taking away really special memories from this time. I feel very grateful for all the experience and for all the people I met here. Thank you for opening the doors to this little paradise 🫶

The best experience of my life, thanks Itamar, for welcoming me into your beautiful family and making me a part of it since day one. Chacahua is a paradise, the restaurant is wonderful, and the lentils even more. I want you all to experience it; I hope to return soon ❤️
