I really had an amazing time there ! I was welcome by the home's family, learned about dog sledding (yes, even in the summer) and about the sami culture and mindset. The dogs were adorable. The fact that socializing, petting and cuddling is actually useful to their training made my days fun and useful at the same time. The place is surrounded by beautiful and quiet nature, perfect to reconnect with myself. If you like peace, dogs and to learn about the local culture, go for it !

My time at the farm was a lonely one. I did learn about Sami culture and traditions, and did learn a lot about dogs, but some communication issues where hard to get past.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you learned about Sami culture and the dogs during your stay.

I’m sorry that your experience felt lonely at times. We did try to include you in activities and daily life on the farm, including fishing trips and social time together, but I understand that communication and different expectations may have affected the experience.

I wish you all the best in your future travels.

Thank you for your feedback.

I’m glad you enjoyed working with the dogs. I also take your comments about communication and accommodation seriously.

I would like to note that you chose to stay about a month longer than agreed, which I appreciate.

Thank you for your effort, and I wish you all the best.

Me and my boyfriend volunteered at Husky Isogaisa. It was and amazing experience. We were so lucky to meet 3 other lovely volunteers and we had a blast together. We got to live in a newly renovated cabin besides the house, which was very nice. The work we did mainly consisted of feeding the dogs, and helping with the sledding. Getting to do the sledding is so much fun! The work is spread throughout the day, with breaks in between, the work is intense and you do work 6-7 hours a day 5 days a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. They will provide you with clothing for working and sledding.

Hi Victoria,

Thank you so much for your kind words – I’m really glad you had a great stay and enjoyed the dogs and the team.

Regarding the food, I understand your point. At times it became a challenge when not everyone wanted to eat what Beate prepared. We are Sámi, and a diet with a lot of meat and fish is a natural part of our culture.

Thank you again for your feedback and for your time here.
