The Experience

Bilbao Akelarre Hostel is a hostel started by two super backpacker friends! We decided to leave journalism to be able to host backpackers from all over the world. It was, in fact, Bilbao's first hostel back in 2009! Times have changed and we work remotely, handling reservations and guest care so that guests feel super at ease! That's why we need someone at the reception to greet backpackers and send codes!

How hard it is to leave the hostel and Bilbao! So we decided to extend my volunteering. I recommend the hostel and the beautiful Basque Country. Thanks again, girls!

It has been a wonderful experience at the hostel and all thanks to Ainara and Nata; they help you with everything they can and give you a lot of confidence. Also, it felt like a little family thanks to them and to my teammates Gaby, Esme, Mariana and Marga, something that is appreciated when you arrive in a new city.
The tasks were easy to understand and at first they let you go at your own pace until you get the rhythm at the reception.
I am very grateful to have met all of them; they are friends I’m taking with me from Bilbao and it was a very beautiful experience. 100% would recommend it.
Lots of kisses <3

To sum up: the best 💞 Even before traveling, the girls were in contact with me to talk about what volunteering would be like. Once I arrived, they were attentive to make sure I was comfortable and accompanied. They respected the agreements, and there was always fluent communication to adapt to what each one needed. The hostel is very pretty, well located, and it feels like a home. My morning teammates (Esme, Ger, and Marga) were a great team and lovely company. An unbeatable experience. Thank you for so much love! Go Akelarre🍄✨

I loved my two-month experience at the hostel. Ainara and Nata are the best bosses - they are very nice, funny and welcoming ✨🤗❤️ They trusted me and made me feel at home. The hours have always been respected, the tasks are simple and they are always willing to help me when I had questions. I had plenty of time to explore Bilbao and the Basque Country. Many thanks to Ger and Esme for being so kind and for sharing conversations with me ☀️🤗🧡 The hostel is welcoming, I loved speaking in different languages with the guests. I have very fond memories. Thanks for everything ❤

My stay at Bilbao Akelarre Hostel was wonderful. From the first moment Ainara and Nata made me feel at home, they welcomed me with a lot of warmth and good vibes ❤️

The hostel allowed me to get to know the city of Bilbao in depth, and I was also able to enjoy the nearby beaches, which was wonderful.
The schedule was always respected and the tasks were never heavy; there is very good organization 😊

I also want to thank Ger and Esme, who are the girls in charge of cleaning the hostel, for always being so kind and keeping me company, making the hostel even more welcoming 🤗
