I had a great time at the hotel! It is so beautiful and a great place to relax. It is gorgeous and one of the best places to swim on the lake! Running the front desk was pretty easy and I hope to be able to come back soon!

My time at the hotel was wonderful and it's sad it's come to an end. It's a great location to explore other parts of the lake, and MayaMoon itself is simply a beautiful place. During high season, the work can be busy, but I really enjoy meeting different people from all over the world, and you still have time to do activities you want - swimming, paddle boarding, hiking, etc. I also appreciate the sleeping arrangements as it's nice to have your own space and not just bunk beds. Thanks for everything Fe and the MayaMoon Crew, I will miss you all. ✨

MayaMoon is an amazing place. Fe & the managers da really good job. The treat you as part of the team and not as a volunteer. In high season it can be really busy but there is always somebody to help you out. The hours are perfect, you have enough time to explore the lake or enjoy the dock. 🌞 2 months seems a long time, but time flies! ¡Hasta Luego! 🌙

I had a solid overall good experience. The work itself is straightforward and easy to manage, but you need a it of self-initiative to stay on top of things. Knowing some basic Spanish is also really helpful for connecting with the local staff. There's plenty of time to chat with guests and to relax and explore. The property sits right on the water with great lake views. Since it's set right in nature keep in mind that you'll be sharing the space with local wildlife. The bathroom is quite basic, but covers the essential. Overall a nice spot if you enjoy a relaxed and rustic lakeside living.

My experience at the hotel raised serious concerns regarding professionalism, safety, and exploitations. Volunteers were routinely relied on for duties beyond agreed roles and hours, creating conditions that felt exploitative. I also observed repeated alcohol use by management and situations where younger volunteers were uncomfortable due to persistent pressure and boundary-crossing behavior that felt unsafe and, at times, manipulative in nature. Several volunteers left within days of one another due to similar concerns, reflecting a broader pattern rather than isolated incidents.

We strongly dispute the accuracy of this review. Our agreed terms were clearly communicated and fully respected throughout Joanna’s stay,
Claims that multiple volunteers left are untrue. Joanna was person who left, and she departed without informing management, disrupting the team. We also found aspects of Joanna’s profile to be misleading and inconsistent.
Social drinking is not a significant part of the lodges ethos, most people prefer activities such as swimming, being in nature.
