The Experience

We are a local family living in Arusha, north of Tanzania, that works to enhance the quality of life of our community. We focus on improving education of our kids, as one of the biggest concerns of the country is the low rate of children finishing secondary school. You can support our local school by helping to teach under staffed classes and encouraging the children to learn and have fun at the same time!

My first Worldpacker experience was positive. I appreciated the human quality of James, his family, and the local workers (not volunteers) from whom I learned many things about the local language and culture. I've a great affection for Daudi, Angela and the others workers. As for my contribution as a volunteer, I'd have liked to have more tasks to develop, to be more active and have a greater impact on the construction of the library and classroom. Maybe in the future I can return and do more or in my next Worldpacker experience. The accommodation was super comfortable and nice.

I am truly grateful with James and his family. They were such a great, helpful and kind hosts. You can do many activities if you are not into something specific; like gardering, teaching any subject you are good at to the kids, painting, etc. And if you want or need any information about activities after your working hours, James will asist you with your concerns. Loved my time spent in Arusha!

Incredible experience at Kissiri house! I couldn't recommend this enough. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and provided super hospitality and amazing food every day. Very helpful with anything we needed and also for organizing tours. The work was super rewarding and all the kids are lovely, never complaints from any of them. I can't fault this experience at all and I hope to return one day!
